Desta Rudolph is an accomplished Solar Professional and entrepreneur. He graduated from Mililani Highschool in 2016 and recently completed his studies at the University of Hawaii – West Oahu in 2023. In addition to his professional pursuits, Desta finds solace in activities such as spearfishing, surfing, and hiking during his leisure time.

At the young age of 19, Desta embarked on his full-time solar career while simultaneously managing his studies. After three years of valuable experience in the Solar Industry, he took a bold step and established his own venture, Independent Energy Systems, LLC. Since its inception, Independent Energy has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the most trusted and esteemed solar companies in the state. The company prides itself on exceptional customer service, backed by glowing customer testimonials. Having learned from his industry experience, Desta understands the importance of providing customers with a transparent and educational process, reflected in Independent Energy’s motto: “Solar Made Simple.” From the initial meeting to the activation of the solar system, the company strives to ensure a seamless and informative experience for its clients.

Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavors, Desta passionately advocates for renewable energy and the decarbonization of Hawaii. He actively participates in the Hawaii Solar Energy Association (HSEA), an organization dedicated to advancing the solar industry and aiding Hawaii in achieving its 100% Renewable Energy Goals by 2045. Through policy advocacy and lobbying efforts with local government and public utility commissions, Desta and the HSEA strive to make a meaningful impact. Additionally, he holds memberships in esteemed associations such as the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), GRID Alternatives, and serves as an Island Innovation Ambassador, further demonstrating his commitment to a sustainable future.

Adam is currently an Vice President of Operations at Independent Energy, overseeing the solar team and providing excellent service to customers with his years of experience within the solar industry. His passion for helping others and his dedication to the renewable energy sector have allowed him to grow into this role. Outside of work, Adam enjoys weightlifting, cooking, and traveling.

Every day, Adam comes to work driven by the opportunity to collaborate with his dedicated team and provide the best customer experience. He believes that a positive work environment is essential for achieving this goal. Born and raised in Hawai’i, Jenesis Makanani has deep roots in media creation. When she’s not at work, she loves creating videos or content while enjoying the beach, hiking, or diving. Her journey began as a Media and Video creator, developing a passion for storytelling and helping local companies gain recognition. Over the years, Jenesis honed her media creation skills, aligning her mission with Independent Energy’s vision for a cleaner energy future.

As the Director of Creative Development and Marketing, Jenesis is dedicated to making the customer journey seamless and straightforward through engaging and informative content. From the Philippines, Sean Daniel is one of our dedicated Project Managers at Independent Energy Hawaii. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Sean Daniel started his career in pursuit in the solar industry. Outside the world of solar energy, Sean Daniel finds joy in playing & recording musical instruments such as guitars and drums. As one of our newest members of the team, Sean Daniel contributes to ensuring that the customer has a positive experience by actively monitoring and maintaining the customer’s solar energy system, ensuring optimal performance and proper operation.

Anuhea is a Project Developer here at Independent Energy. She has received her Bachelors Degree in Public Health at Northern Arizona University. Public health and solar energy are related in several ways, primarily in the context of mitigating the health impacts of environmental factors, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting sustainable and clean energy sources.

In a public health perspective, solar energy can provide energy access to underserved and remote communities that may not have access to reliable electricity. By expanding solar energy access, we can improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities.

Taryn is a passionate outdoors enthusiast who finds joy in activities like hiking, biking, swimming, and surfing. Beyond that she serves as a Solar Consultant at Independent Energy, where she educates customers on tailored solar solutions, keeping them informed about the latest equipment and energy programs. What she loves most about her role is the opportunity to contribute to homeowner’s lives and contribute to a greener planet. Navigating the solar world can be daunting. There is so much to learn to be able to make an informed decision. I help my customers by staying up to date on everything solar; getting any necessary certifications to properly explain how the system works and staying informed on the best equipment on the market. Working within the collaborative environment of Independent Energy, she values the team’s collective effort in ensuring top-notch customer service and growth. Day-to-day, she assists customers by demystifying the solar landscape, customizing systems to their exact needs, and ensuring they receive the best equipment and advice.

Meet James, a Solar Consultant with over a decade of experience in the industry. When he’s not bringing solar solutions to families across Hawaii, James enjoys life through travel, golf, and sports, passionately supporting teams like the LA Rams, Golden State Warriors, and SF Giants. His downtime is filled with gardening, beach outings, and tackling DIY home projects.

James settles into his role at Independent Energy, attracted to the company’s willingness to embrace new solar technology, which aligns with his own interests. He’s drawn to the commitment of simplifying solar while leveraging his comprehensive knowledge of PV panels, inverters, and more. James is all about tailoring personalized solar setups, ensuring each household gets the perfect fit for their energy needs. It’s his way of leaving an imprint on the world, one home at a time.
