Before sending a referral, ask whether the homeowner is comfortable hearing from Independent Energy Hawaii. It helps to share what they are actually looking for: a first solar installation, storage for a new system or guidance on whether their roof is ready. You do not need to choose equipment or promise a savings result on their behalf. The estimate and site survey are where their specific options are assessed.

Include a reliable way to reach both you and the homeowner, plus their town or island if you know it. Our service areas are Oahu, Maui and Kona/West Hawaii. A short note about their goal makes the introduction more useful than simply sending a name. Avoid including private account passwords, financial records or unrelated personal details in the referral notes.

Keep the introduction separate from the installation decision

Anyone may refer a homeowner; you do not have to be an IEH customer. Submit the referral before the homeowner contacts us so the introduction can be connected to you. The program pays $1,000 per qualifying completed homeowner installation, with no limit on referrals. Payment follows installation completion and project closeout, not a quote request or a signed agreement alone.

The referred homeowner still makes their own decision about equipment, budget and timing. A referral is an introduction, not a commitment to buy. If their main need is cleaning, a repair or an existing-system assessment, describe that accurately rather than presenting it as a new installation. The published $1,000 installation reward should not be assumed to apply to a maintenance-only request.

There is no cap. Homeowners who have been through the process often refer several neighbors, especially in communities where an entire street is dealing with the same aging systems or the same defunct installer.

What if someone I referred already contacted you?

If the person is already an active lead in our system, the referral cannot be credited. Submitting their information here first is what establishes the connection, so send it over before they reach out to us.

Does a service or maintenance job count?

The $1,000 reward is tied to completed solar installations. Referrals that result in service work, panel cleaning, or a SolarServe membership are genuinely appreciated and we handle those case by case, so tell us in the notes what they need.
